Wilson <br />and Arthur S~ Owens, City Manager. <br /> <br /> The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Yo~ are requeste~ to attend a~speoial meeting of the City Council, in <br />the Council Chamber, at 8:00 P.~M., on Thursday, -$aamar~y yth~ to consider t~adoption o f a <br />resolution fo~ award~ef ~c~ntraet for pipe 2i~ betwee~ Buffolk and Portsmouth. <br /> By Order of the President." <br /> <br /> The City Manager presented the following resolution~ <br /> <br />dituree as neeesaar~to seeure 2~# pipe instead of 20" <br />was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, a contract has been awarded t~e Lynohburg Foundry <br />Company,. cf ~vnchburg, Virginia, for ~he manufacture of 2~" <br />pipe for the ~ine between Suffolk and Portmouth', Virginia, <br />amounting ~o a total of $10-2,651~., and <br /> <br />WHEREA~, theremay not be sufficient funds in the contract <br />te~allew E~" pi~e for the final ~,800 feet into theCity, <br />the Council agree~ to allow t~e Federal Works A-gency to pur- <br />chase 7,800 feet of 20" pipe in lieu of the 2~" pipe, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE ~E IT P~OLVED by the Oouncil of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the said contract be approved and <br />~hatthe CityNanager be authorized tc exeCUte same and that <br />the City Clerk be authorized to attach the seal of the City.~ <br /> <br />Motion c f Mr. Hutohins te authorize the City ~anzger to make such expen- <br /> pipe, as indicated in above resolution, <br /> <br /> Ayes: <br /> <br /> Nays: None <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Warren, Wilson <br /> <br />L.
