<br /> lOth - UThe Shore Patrol has put eight additional men in the headquar -
<br />ters on Crawford Street and promises us addit%on8l men as they are recruited.
<br /> The cost of improving the building was more than the aporooria-
<br />tion; therefore, I am requesting an additional aopropriation of $2,500.00 to defray neCesSary
<br />expenses." ' -

<br /> Motion o f Mr. Warren that an appropriation o f $2,500.00 for said purpose
<br />be laid on table until next meeting, %ms adopted.

<br />The following letter from the City Attorney was read:
<br />
<br /> "At your last meeting you approved a contract with the Coder Incinerator
<br />Oorporation upon the condition that a performance bond of $106,897.O0 and a guaranty bond of
<br />$25,0OO. be given by the C~der Incinerator Corporation end that the contract be approved by thel
<br />the A~ministrator of the Federal Works Agency.
<br /> I am in receipt of a letter of the agents of bonding company stating
<br />that the specifications for the incinerator do no~ require the bond of $25,000. smd it ~opears
<br />that the incinerator Corporation objects to giving such a bond. The officials of the Federal
<br />~orks Agency info~med me that the City can not require the guaranty bondand suggest that t~his
<br />requirement be omitted.
<br /> I suggest that the contract with the Goder Incinerator Corporation be
<br />approved and that the 0ity Manager and City Clerk be authorized to execute the same when the
<br />necessary performance bond is given and full approval is had by the Feders~l Works Agency."

<br /> "At a meeting of the Portsmouth Defense Recreation Committee~ held Fri-
<br />day, July 16th, 1943, a motion ~.s unanimously adopted requesting the Honorable City Council
<br />to provide a suit~ole area to be developed as a playground in the City oT Portsmouth.
<br /> The Comm. it~ee earnestly requests favorable action by your Honorable
<br />body, in order that the City may avail itself of the generous offer of the Loyal Order of ~[oose~
<br />Lodge No.sg&, to contribute $5,O00.00 for equipping such an area.
