E..Parker, 0ity 0olle¢~or, were audited by L.C. <br />Brinson, 0ity Clerk & Auditor, as of March 9th,1944, <br />and according to ~he report of ~he City Clerk & Audi- <br />tor, were found correct, as shown by the books of the <br />Oity; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, i~ appears that it is the duty e~ the City <br />~ou~cil ~o have examined yearly, the llst ef uncol - <br /> ec~ed taxes, and~o~ credit the Oollector such taxes, <br />as~ln their opinion, could not have been collected <br />wi~h due diligence, and <br />WHEREAS,' l~ appears tha~A. E. Parker, City Collector, <br />should be credited With a~l ~axes lev!edin 1943. re- <br />maining mncollected on the nin~h day Of March, 19~4, the <br />amount of which is sho~n in said report of L.C. Brinsc~, <br />Oi~y Olerk-& Auditor ..... <br />NO~, THERE~0RE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the <br />City Of. ~or~smouth, Virginia, that A. E. Parker, City <br />Collector, be credited wi~h all uncollected taxes levied <br />in 1943, remaining in his office on March 9th,1944, and <br />tha~ he be relieved o-f his responsibility for not having <br />collected the same, but nothing herein contained~shall <br />be construed as ~elieving the payment of said ta~s by <br />the persons owimg same, or in relieving A.E.~'Perker; <br />Ci~y Collector, from his responsibility for any eums so <br />collected.~ <br /> <br />condition of the <br />adopted. <br /> <br /> On mo~ion of Mr. Fox,'said resolution was adopted. <br /> <br /> Notion of Mr. Howard $o instruct the City Manager to study the crowded <br />Collector's office, with the view'Of providing additional office space, was <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />Approved~ <br /> President. <br /> <br /> <br />
