53O <br /> <br />August 26. 1996 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting oft. he City Council held on Monday~ August 26, 1996, <br />there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley I11, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, James T. <br />Martin, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn Ill, Ronald W. Massie, City <br />Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />96-286 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., <br />Monday, August 26, 1996, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />96-287 - The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: <br /> 1. Norfolk Naval Shipyard Portsmouth Association <br /> 2. ES-2000 Accu-Vote Voting System <br /> 3. Marketing Plan <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Berm, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to go into Executive <br />SeSsion pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the <br />following: <br /> <br />(1) Discussion of personnel matters, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real <br />property for a public purpose, or disposition of publicly held property, as <br />permitted by Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefings by staff members, <br />consultants or attorneys pertaining to actual or probable litigation, as permitted <br />by Subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br /> (4) Discussion or consideration of specific legal matters requiring the <br />provision of legal advice by counsel, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City <br />Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or <br />considered in the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
