53O August 26. 1996 At a Called Meeting oft. he City Council held on Monday~ August 26, 1996, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley I11, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, James T. Martin, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn Ill, Ronald W. Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. 96-286 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 1996, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 96-287 - The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Norfolk Naval Shipyard Portsmouth Association 2. ES-2000 Accu-Vote Voting System 3. Marketing Plan Motion by Mr. Berm, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to go into Executive SeSsion pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discussion of personnel matters, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). (2) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). (3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefings by staff members, consultants or attorneys pertaining to actual or probable litigation, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). (4) Discussion or consideration of specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
