Pender, Attorney for Book RealtY
0orporation concerning taxes. It appears that the Book Realty 0orporation was the
owner of a number of vacant lots adjoining Truxton, upon which taxes zme due for the
years 1939 to 1944, both inclusive. The Government took the property for use as a
trailer ca~o, and under tt~e terms of the lease it is ~o pay an s~nual rental and taxes
which accrue during its occupancy. In order to be reimbursed for taxes, ~e owner of
the property is required to pay the taxes and submit the receipts~with a voucher to the
Government. Mr. Pender is asking permission to pay the 1943 t~xes so he can send the
receiots ~o the Government for reimbursement, and when he receives the rent to pay
$20~.b0 on the earlier taxes. He also ~ates ~hat a similar situation will apply to the
1944 taxes. The City Collector will not permit the 1943 taxes to be'paid until 1939-
40-41 and I942 taxes are paid. I find the property wa~ sold ih J~ne,~ 1944 to A.E. Lan-
dreth and Grover E. Myers, Sr. and I have been unable to ascertain just what arranme~entl
they expect to m~ke gOout paying the remaining Daxes.
