<br />Minutes of regular meeting held November 28th were read-and approved.

<br />The following communications from the City Manager were read=
<br />
<br /> 1st - "Du~ to a shortage of gasoline by tocal taxicab owners, a.request
<br />was made to my office in an attemp~ to secure ad~itlona! gasoline.
<br /> On December llth, 19~4, I appeared before the Office of Defense
<br />Transportation in Richmond, with two representatives of the taxicab owners for additional
<br />gasoline. '
<br /> I would appreciate your concurring, in my attempts to secure this
<br />gasoline for local owners."
<br />
<br /> N~tion of Mr. Grimes to concur in the Managerts request,, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 2nd - "The ~inal figures on the 1945 budget, which I am requesting you to
<br /> adopt tonight, will include a 5% increase in salaries'for all City employees including school
<br /> teachers, pensioners and gratuities.
<br />

<br /> On motion of Mr. Hutchins the 1945 Budget, as amended, was

<br />the Retirement Board, in furtherance of their hearing on November 2?th.
<br /> Oapt. Felton has given the City twenty-seven years of faithful ser-
<br />vice and it is my recommendation that he be retired on the 1st day of January at half salary~
<br />
<br /> Notion of Mr.~Hutchins to concur in the Manager's recommendation to appoi~
<br />a committee to bring in a resolution of respect on the retirement of Caot. C.H. Felton was
<br />adopted, and the Chair appointed Messrs. Howa~, ~arren and Weiseman on-said committee,

<br /> At the present time, there are seven deputies and the culmination
<br />of our conference was that we recommend eight deputies and I ~ould appreciate your concur -
<br />fence in this recommendation, to be followed by a resolution to the State Department of Cor-
<br />rections of-the 0ity's willingness to pay its share."
