<br />oublic auction in front of the Court House in this City, at 12 o~clock noon, on Saturdsy, Aoril
<br />~lst, 1955, tocthe highest bidder, the vacant lot of land ~n the west side of Washington St.,
<br />between Randolph and Brighton Sts., which was formerly owned by L.M. Goodman, and the two va -
<br />cant lots of land on the east side of Roanoke Ave., known as lots Numbers 18 and ~ in block 12
<br />on the plat of Piedmont Heights and which was formerly owned by the Standard Building & Loan
<br />Association.
<br /> TheOlt? purchased both parcels of land to protect its l~en for ]
<br />taxes and the property has never been used for p~blic purposes. John W. Parker became the
<br />highest bidder for the lot on Washing~onSt. at the price of $265.00 and James Crocker as-agent
<br />for Lydia L. Crocker and James W. Crocker, became the highest ~idder for the two lots at Pied-
<br />mont Heights at the price of $200.00. Due notice of the sale was given by advertisement for
<br />ten days in the portsmouth Star. Lot 18 is to be conveyed ~o Js~es W. Crocker and Lot 19 to
<br />~ydia Lo Crocker.

<br />ney be directed to draw necessary deeds and that the proper officers of the C~y be directed

<br />lands owned by the City, and
<br /> ~HEREAS, on April 21st, a~ 12:O0 o'clock noon, W.H.C~pell,Jr.
<br />was the high and only bidder, for ~250.00 per year, for five
<br />years, w~th an ootion of five additional years~
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT P~ESOLVED that the Council of the City
<br />of PortsmoUth, Virglnia~ authorize the City ~anager to accept
<br />the bid of W.H.Capell, Jr. and that the proper officers of the
<br />City be authorized to enter into a lease ~pproved by the City
<br />Attorney with the seal attached thereto.~
