Evans, <br />]16 Fourth St." <br /> <br />The following letter was read and referred to the City Attorney: <br /> <br /> "I am a poor widow 90 years old and have been living here in this old house <br />40 years and kept the taxes paid up regularly every year until my husband died in 1938, and I <br />had spent about all I had saved for old age. on him, trying everything tomake him better for <br />about ten years, so heleft me with nothing bu~ a liferight in this house that t am still liv- <br />ing in and last year they raised the Taxes $5.00 more on me and all I have to support me is <br />the little rent I get from my roomers which I try to ~ent out and now they are vacant and b~rd <br />to rent out and the house and all surroundings has come down and I have to spend about half <br />of my rent to pay taxes and keep everything up so I can get a little rent to try to live. My <br />health is very bad so I am not able to keep up all the time. I called for City Doctor some- <br />time ago, and he came one time. Please help me to take off the extra $5.00 they put on me <br />since I have been a poor widow and I will thank you so much. <br /> <br />Mrs. Hardy, 711 South St." <br /> <br />The following letter was read and referred to the City Attorney: <br /> <br /> "I, Josephine Body, have been assessed and have paid for personal property <br />at 9~2 County St. and also 940 County Street. 940 is correct and I have no personal property <br />at 942 ~ounty. This is a double assessment ~nd should be relieved. <br /> <br />Yours truly, <br /> <br />Josephine Body. <br /> <br />The following letter was read and referred to ~he Zoning Commission: <br /> <br /> "I wish to protes~ against rezoning ~roperty of Alfred E. Young at the <br />southwest corner of Effingham and Randolph Sts., from Residential to Industrial, which~was ap <br />proved by the Planning Commission on May 2nd, as this pr0per~y is Just 18 inches from the <br />building line of my residence property on Effingham St. an~ a business of any kind that close <br />to my home would be very objectionable. <br /> Thanking you for your consideration of my complaint, I am, <br /> Respectfully, <br /> <br />William Ruffin, <br /> 1~14 Effingham St.'~ <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Weiseman for the 0ouncil to thank the City Manager, City At- <br />torney and other officers and employees wko took part in the recent Annexation proceedings, was <br />adopted. <br /> <br />in Montreal. <br /> <br />fro~ June 15th, <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Mr. Fox stated that the Oity Managers~ Association will meet June 15th - <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> City Manager <br />Motion of Mr. Wilson Shat~he/be granted a two weeks leave of absence, <br />that the Mayor be authorized to act in h%s stead, while he is absent, was <br /> <br />On mo~ion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> re s ident. <br /> <br /> <br />
