October 8. 1996 <br /> <br />- CITY MANAGER'S REPORT- <br /> <br />561 <br /> <br />96-345 -Ordinance to appropriate $190,000 from the Capital Improvements <br />Fund for the removal and installation of petroleum underground storage tanks at <br />City facilities as required by Federal regulations, and a motion to award the <br />contract to Goode Omega, Inc. <br /> <br /> a. Ordinance to appropriate $190 000 from the Capital Improvements <br />Fund for the removal and installation of petroleum underground storage tanks. <br /> <br />b. Motion to award a contract to Goode Omega, Inc. <br /> <br /> "The 1996/97 Capital Improvement Plan authorized continued funding for <br />the installation and removal of petroleum underground storage tanks at City <br />facilities, in order to comply with federal regulations, the underground tanks at <br />the Vehicle Service Center located at the City Compound on Frederick <br />Boulevard must be removed and new tanks installed This project will be <br />~mplemented in two phases. Phase I will be the installation of four (4) 12,000 <br />gallon underground fuel tanks with fuel islands and a canopy. Phase II will be <br />the disassembly and removal of the current fueling system. <br /> <br /> Bids have been received for Phase I and the results are attached for your <br />review. The Deputy City Manager has recommended that the bid be awarded to <br />Goode Omega, Inc., the Iow bidder= in the amount of $175,346. Total project <br />costs are as follows: <br /> <br />4 UST's installed <br />Contingencies <br /> <br />$175,346 <br /> 14,654 <br /> <br />Total $190,000 <br /> <br /> I concur with this recommendation and request an appropriation in the <br />amount of $190,000. With your approval of this item, the balance of bonds <br />authorized, but not yet appropriated will be $3,556,783." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to adopt the <br />following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $190,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR A NEW FUELING SYSTEM AT THE VEHICLE <br />SERVICES CENTER." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Martin, Robinett: Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to award a contract <br />to Goode Omega, Inc. for the removal and installation of petroleum underground <br />storage tanks at City facilities as required by Federal regulations, and was <br />adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Martin, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />96-346 - Ordinance dissolving the Cable Television Commission <br /> <br /> "When cable television was a new technology, in the 1970's, the City <br />Council created a Cable Television Commission to advise them on the awarding <br />of a franchise, on matters dealing with construction of the system and, most <br />important, on regulatory matters, especially rate regulation. Since that time the <br />cable industry has matured and new technologies are on the horizon. <br /> <br /> <br />
