The following com~-s~zications~ the City E~ager were read: 1st 'Willisma M, Murphy, representing a colored professional base - ball te~a that hopes to represent Portsmouth, wou~d like the use of the stadi~nfbr ~pproxi mately forty games for their schedule, during the absence of the professional baseball team. k~ur authority to grant this approval for use of the stadium will be appreciated.~ Motion of ~r. Sturtevant to refer back to the Citymanager,w ~ was adop~ 2nd - "For some time many of us !~ve hoped of providing more liveable conditions for our indigents at the City Home and providing nursing care for our people. At a c~nference ~th Housing Authority officials, there ap - pears a possibility that the City may be able to get the use of Wendell-Neville Dormitories for that p~ose and tacit reports from other co~uties ~ud cities have e~hibited a %~llingness to place their people in a home of tb~s type. I would appreciate your authority to negotiate with the Feder- al P~blic.Housing Authority as well as other counties and cities~ toward effecting these desira- ble zmprovements.~ ~otion of' ~r.
