<br /> WHEREAS, this Council iS ~gnizant of the conditions that are imposed by the
<br />provisions of the Housing and Commanity Development Act of 1974, as amended,
<br />including those prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color, religion,
<br />familial status, handicap, sex or national origin; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it is in the interest of the City and
<br />its inhabitants that the said Amendment be approved.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br />1. That regarding Amendment No. 27, it is herebY found:
<br />
<br /> (a) That the objectives of the CrawfOrd Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, can be better achieved by the adoption of said Amendment to the Plan.
<br />
<br /> (b) That Amendment No. 27 meets the requirements of a plan for an urban
<br />renewal project pursuant to Chapter 1 of Title 36 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as
<br />amended.
<br />
<br /> 2. That Amendment No. 27, having been duly reviewed and considered, is
<br />hereby approved and adopted and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a copy of
<br />said Amendment with the minutes of this meeting."

<br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt the following
<br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> "A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 3 TO THE
<br />REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE HA'I-rONSVILLE REDEVELOPMENT
<br />PROJECT.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted October 27, 1981, approved a
<br />Redevelopment Plan for the Hattonsville Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia (Plan); and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for consideration and
<br />approval, a copy of an amended plan for the project area, which Plan consists of 20
<br />pages and 3 exhibits (Amendment No. 3); and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 3 proposes to designate one additional property
<br />as "To Be Acquired"; anc~
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS. this Council is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed by the
