One of these requests was from an airl~ue company which made <br />application in Janual~ of last yea~ to the Civil Aeronautics Board for pe~ission to establish <br />flying se~ vmce from a point in Tidewater Virginia to Washington, Baltimore, New Tork aud other <br />points north. The City ~anager and the ~anaging-Director of this Chamber appeared before a <br />Civil Aeronautics Board Committee hea~ing in Philadelphia at that time an~ presentedPortsmeuth~s <br />request for desi~tion as an airline terminal, <br /> We have been requested by the aLvline company referred to above to <br />ask that officials o~ the City of ~orts~outh make further efforts at this time to secure the <br />designation, ~iohtas applied for lamt Jantu?J~, of this City as au essential location for <br />airline terminal s ervieee <br /> ~e feel that in order that Portsmouth keep abreast of the trend and <br />progress being made in the field of air tranmoortation that it is u~gent that a i~ll and thor- <br />oughinves~gatmon of the possibility ef acquiring such service be made at this tmme.
