Mr. Howard stated that serious considerationis now being given to the <br />SchooI Board' s request. <br /> <br />The following letter was~read and referred to the City Attorney: <br /> <br /> "~here was reported as paid.on our &riminal Judgment Docket of Jauuary <br />15th, 19~7~ fine and costs in amount of ~103.50, ~aieh was paid by Nr. E.L. Hudson acco~ut of <br />his son,Elmer Hudson, who was cha~ged with alleged offense of ~Unauthorized use of automobile~. <br /> The Court upon hea~ing further evidence ordered the case against Emdson <br />reopened as of Fev~uary 12, 194V, dismissing the said Elmer Hudson of the offense with which <br />he w as charged. <br /> I am therefore of the opinion that the sum of $103o80 shouldb e remitted <br />to Nr.E.L. '~ilson and R.C. <br />Barclay, City Attorney. <br /> <br />The call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> WYou are requested to attend a called:meeting of the City Co~ucii, <br />in the Couucil Chamber, at 7:~0 on Friday evening, October 24th, to consider the resignation <br />of the City Manager. <br /> By 0rder of the President." <br /> <br />The resignation o f the City Mar~ger was read: <br /> <br /> "Pus to my election as City Manager of Roanoke, Va., effective J~u - <br />ary 1st, 19~8, I am tendering my resiguation as City Manager of Portsmouth, effective the lat- <br />ter part of December, 19i7. <br /> It i~ my intention to complete the budget, pre, are all annexation <br />needs and in turn, assist and planin e very way possible for the ye~ 1948. It has indeed been <br />a pleasure to work under your capable leadership.
