Fox, ~med A. ~ke, George L. Grimes, ~rthu~ P. Henderson, <br />Carl C. Houghton, Jr., J~nes N.Howa~d, E. Robie St~tevant~ H. Earl <br />~eiseman, Pea~le J. Wilson, C. E. ~?a~ren, W. Guy Ancell, Czty Mar~- <br />get and R. C. Barclay, City Attorney. <br /> <br />~roVede <br /> <br />Hinutes of regular meeting held April 2Vth, 19~8, were read and ap - <br /> <br />The Committee on Western Branch Road made the followmng report. <br /> <br />the purpose <br /> <br /> ~n accordance with you~ instructions, the committee appointed for <br />of studying Western Branch Road begs to report: <br /> I - Having fotu4~ Western Brsmch Road a desirable and much <br /> used artery for the swift and orderly moVement of traf- <br /> fic you~ committee recon~ends that the Co~ucil reaffimm <br /> its previous position ~nat Western Branch Road fr~n <br /> Air Line Turnpike to Hi~u St. ce maintained and contin- <br /> ued as an avenue for travel, and <br /> 2 - That the s~ of ~,000,00 be appropriated for the pur- <br /> pose of widening smd resurfacing the same from Cotuuty <br /> Stmeet to High Street. Such work is necessary in the <br /> interest of safety an~d the sm ount recormmended will, in <br /> the opinion of the City Engineer, ~. P.J. Warren." <br /> <br />Jr · <br /> <br /> On mot._on of ~e_seman, the report was adopted and s~ appropria- <br />tion of $4,000.00 for said purpose was plac~ed on its first reading, <br /> <br /> The Mayor s tared that he had the contract for the new ferr~y boat <br />stated tha~' he preferred the Councml s~ authority for him to sign the same. <br /> <br /> Motion o f ~. Howard that the Mayor be authorized to sign the con - <br />tract for a new ferry boat, was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Fox, ~ke~ Grimes, Eenderson, oug~ton~ <br /> Sturtevant, Weisemmu, Wilson, warren <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />The following commztuications f~om th~ City M~uage~ were received: <br /> <br /> 1st - "The City Engineer received today copies of the new Building <br />Code and D am ~ubmitting ~ herewithand suggest that the Council suspend its rules and adopt <br />the ordinance at this meeting. The printer has provided that the ordinance is adopted as of <br />~ay llth, 1948, <br /> i further reco~end that the Building Code be placed on sale~ <br />at $5.00 p~r copy, ~hi~h is ~l.00 more than the actual cost to the City. <br /> ~_e necessity of copying the ordinance in the ordinance book <br />should be dispensed with, and a printed copy should be kept on file by the City Clerk, certi- <br />fying its adoption.~ <br /> <br /> <br />
