This conference for chief municipal administrators should be of direct
benefit to you and you_w City Manager. The ~ianager of every municipality is carrying a heavy
load. He must be ready to make sound reeo~endations to you on many important matters - what
policy to follow in regard to wages of employees; v~at types of public constructic~ work shottl~
be put through at present prices or deferred; whether a plan for increasing city revenues
would be feasible; what economies in operation can b e effected to stretch the present tax-dol-
lar, etc. Over and over again managers tell us that they get ideas at the annual conference
which save their cities far more than their expenses to attend the meeting.
According to ou~ custom, the conference p to,am will ~e made up almost
entirely from suggestions sent in by the managers who ~lll attend the meeting. There will be
in addition, s~nple tiE~ for your manager to suggest and have discussed at the conference any
I know you will appreciate the benefits that will accrue to your city
from having your manage~ at this meeting ~dwe would appreciate hea~ing what action is take~
