001 <br /> <br />December 16. 1996 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council held on Monday, December 16, 1996, <br />there were Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., <br />Cameron C. Pitts, James T. Martin, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn <br />Ronald W. Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />96-403 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Monday, <br />December 16, 1996, for the purpose of a Public Work SessiOn. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />96-404 - The following item was discussed in the Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Garbage and Refuse Ordinance <br />2. Hoffler's Creek <br />3. Marketing Plan <br />4. Regional Jail <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the <br />following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real <br />property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as <br />permitted by Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion concerning a prospective business or industry or expansion of <br />an existing business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of <br />same in the community, as permitted by Subsection (A)(5). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant to SeCtion 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by a vote of 6-0 (Mayor Holley left the meeting at <br />6:45 p.m.). <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br />Dr. James W.
