<br /> Be it Resolved that the Norfolk & Port~outh Belt Line Railroad Compa-
<br />ny be authorized to install, at any crossing~in the Cit~ of Portsmouth, except Glasgow Street,
<br />automatic crossing signals manufactured by the Union Switch ~ud Signal Compa~.y of Swissv~l~,
<br />Pennsylvania, in accordance with standards of the Ame~ican~sso~at~on ~f Railroads or s~m~la~
<br />crossing signals manufactured by aay other company~
<br /> Said crossing signals shall consist of the follow~ug:
<br /> Two posts - one on each side of the track and located to the right of
<br />vehicular traffic spproaching the crossing. On eachp cst there shall be a reflectorized c ross.
<br />buck sign reading~ "RAILROAD CROSSING", a reflectorized sign indicating the number of tracks
<br />to be crossed and a~refl~ctorized sign reading ~STOP ON RED SIGNAL~.
<br /> On each ~ost there shall b e two pairs of l~np units, each having a dia.
<br />mater of 8 ~/4~, mounted back to ~ack so that two o f said lamps will b e visible from each dire¢

<br /> One of t2me posts s~hall be equipped with a warning bell~

<br /> The system shall be so constructed and operated that the warning bell
<br />will ring and that the lamps will begin lighting and unlighting alternately in order to pro-
<br />duce a flashing effect while any train is on the approach track circuit and until the rear of
<br />the train clears the crossing. Such signals shall be similar in appearance to what is k~own
<br />as the standard Seaboard Air Line Rai~ay cross~ng signal, which is shown on S.A.~. Drawing
<br />S-10~TH, with the ~xception that the sign readmng, ~'SLOW DO~ 8 ~ILW~--VIRGINIA LA~~, is not
<br />included. A copy of the d~awing mentioned has been submitted to the Council and is ordered to
