<br />Emanuel ~yrick was convicted on the charge of cruelty to animals, the charge being, brought by
<br />~.~. Floyd A. Sykes, Humane Officer of the City of Portsmouth Humane Society, a ndf ~ned $50.00
<br />and costs, which fine was duly paid by Eyrick. Under Section 456~ of the Code of Virginia, the
<br />Portsmouth Humane Society is entitled to receive one half of the fines collectedLu these pros-
<br />ecuted cases. For yotur convenience, the Section is quoted as follows:

<br /> 'Zu every case prosecuted upon the evidence, complaint
<br /> or information of any officer or agent of say duly
<br /> incorporated society f or the prevention o f cruelty to
<br /> animals, one-half of the fine assessed against the ac-
