February_ 25:1997 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, February 25, 1997, there <br />were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor James W. Holley III. Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. <br />Griffin, Sr.. James T. Martin, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn Ill, Ronald W. <br />Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />97-51 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 <br />p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 1997, for the purpose of a public work session <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />97-52 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Golf Courses <br /> <br />2. Joint IDA/PPIC Meeting <br /> <br />The following IDA/PPIC members were present: <br /> <br />Steve Lynch, Chairman <br />Douglas Smith <br />William Kline <br />B. Anne Davis <br />John Spence <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the <br />following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion or consideration of the condition or use of real property for a <br />public purpose, or the dispoSition of publicly held property, as permitted by <br />Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion concerning a prospective business or industry or expansion of <br />an existing business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of <br />same in the community, as permitted by Subsection (A)(5). <br /> <br /> (3) Discussion or consideration of specific legal matters requiring the <br />provision of legal advice by counsel, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Counci~ member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
