February_ 25:1997 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, February 25, 1997, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III. Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr.. James T. Martin, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn Ill, Ronald W. Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. 97-51 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 1997, for the purpose of a public work session In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 97-52 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Golf Courses 2. Joint IDA/PPIC Meeting The following IDA/PPIC members were present: Steve Lynch, Chairman Douglas Smith William Kline B. Anne Davis John Spence Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discussion or consideration of the condition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the dispoSition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). (2) Discussion concerning a prospective business or industry or expansion of an existing business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of same in the community, as permitted by Subsection (A)(5). (3) Discussion or consideration of specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Counci~ member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
