Howard to refer to the committee appointed to study job classifications, was adopted. l~th - "Sometime ago~-.~you referred to me the question of ascertain~ug from the Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company if a Diesel engine could be substituted for the coal burning engine for shifting purposes in the Porta~uth yards. I have discussed this matter with Er. Dunn of the Rat_L~oad Company and I have been advised that there will be available on part-time basis, a freight Diesel engine that will be used instead of the regular coal burning emgine during the next several months and that it is planned to place in service a full time Diesel engine for shifting pmrposes in the City of Portsmouth not later than DecemBer 1, 19~I~'" On motion filed~ 15th - "I would like to call your attention to the Civil Defense meeting for this section of the country to he held at Norfolk em Friday, July 27th, 1951, at which time the Federal Director will he present aa welles the Governor of Virginia and many other high ranking Civil Defense officials from adjoining states. There will ~e a public meeting in the Center Theatre of Norfolk at 7:30 P.M., on the same date to whic~ the entire public is invited." On motion filed. lSth - The City Manager reported that he had investigated the matter of replacing the bOiler in the Court House ~uildiug as requested by the Norfolk County Board of Supervisors and recommended that the bOiler be replaced. Motion of Er. Bilisoly to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted. The following ordinance, placed on its first reading at last meeting, was taken up and read: "AN ORDINANCE TO P~0HIBIT THE E~PI~G OF MORE THAN TWO DOGS UPON ANY PREMISES WITHIN A RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT AS DEFINED BY THIS ORDINANCE AND P~IDING PENALTIES THEREFOR" Notion of Mt.
