present: <br /> <br />At a called meeting of the City Council, held on June 13th, 1952, there were <br /> <br />Frank N. Bilisoly, Jr., George L. Grimes, Carl C. Houghton,Jr., James N.Howard, <br />R. Irvine Smith, E. Robie Sturtevant, C. E. Warren, Pearle J. Wilson, I.G.Vass, <br />City Mauager, R. C. Barclay, City Attorney. <br /> <br />The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "You are requested to attend a special meeting of the City Cour~il, in the Council <br />Cham~er at 7:30 on Friday night, June 13th, for the purpose of considering Daylight Savings Time for the City of <br />Portsmouth. <br /> By Order of the Vice President." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr., Honghton to suspend the rules ~o hear from anyone interested in the <br />question of the City of Portsmouth going on Daylight Savings Time, was adopted. <br /> <br />The following people spoke in favor of Daylight Savings Time: <br /> <br /> Talliafero Boatwright <br />Marshall Butt, for Supervisors, 5th Naval District <br />Conmmnder Gilchrist, Naval Shipyard <br />H.M. Sedberry <br />George A. Garrett <br />Clyde Fitch <br />Gaston Foote <br />Jack W~I 1 ace <br />Edward Horton <br />Wm. Culpepper <br />Mrs. Overton <br />F.D. Lawrence <br />Leslie Frye, Junior Chamber Commerce <br /> <br />The following spoke against Daylight Savings Time: <br /> <br />S.J. Oliver <br />John J. Williams <br />Robert Marquis <br />S.L. Ford <br />Jas. G.H. Mitchell <br />J.K. Rhodes <br />Jack Roberts <br /> <br />against. <br />was adopted. <br />vote: <br /> <br />The City Clerk presented fifty five telegra~m for Daylight Savings Time and three <br />Motion of ~ir. Bilisoly to suspend the rules and to adop% an ordinance in one reading <br />On motion of Mr. Bilisoly, the following ordinance was adopted and by the following <br />,,AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT DAYLIGHT SAV~GS TIME" <br /> <br />Ayes: <br />Nays: Grimes, Wilson <br /> <br /> On motion adjourned. <br />Approved ~ nt.(/ <br /> <br />Bilisoly, Houghton, Howard, Smith, Sturtevant, Warren <br /> <br /> <br />
