<br /> Mr. Cadmus, representing Robert M. 8nowdon, requested the Council to have the City Nanager
<br />investigate the advisabilily of having an:additional taxicab in ~be City to serve the Alexander's Corner area.
<br />
<br /> ~otion of ~r. Houghton zo refer to the City Manager and City Attorney to investigate this
<br />matter and report to the Council, was adopted.

<br /> Committee Reports -
<br />
<br /> The Committee appointed on the question of the tunnel buses coming to the downtown area, re
<br />ported as follows:
<br />
<br /> "The application of the Retail Merchants Association ~o operate shuttle busms over certain
<br />streets within the City of Portssmouth, Virginia, wa~ referred to your Transportation Committee for investigation
<br />and report:
<br /> Your Committee has made an extensive investigation and has held numerous meetings at which
<br />representatives of the Retail Nerchants Association and other interested groups have appeared as well as represen~
<br />tatives of the Tunnel Commission and other interested citizens having considered he question f~om every source,we
<br />recommend the following?
<br /> ~(1) That the Tunnel Commission shuttle buses be routed from ru~nel Plaza on Washington St.'
<br />to High St., stopping on Washington St., at the regular bus stops at Washington and Bart Ets., and at Washington
<br />aud High Ets., to discharge and take on passengers thence on High gr., to Court St., thence on Court St., ~o Cliff
<br />ford Et., thence on Clifford St., to the Tunnel Plaza sgopping ~n Court Bt., at ~$ersection o~ Court and Kim~ 8t~.'
<br />either immediately north or immediately south of King Et., or both if foUnd, justified to properly serve the tra~!
<br />~ng public who desire to use said buses, and on C our~ St. az bridge over ~nn~el.
<br /> ~ (2) The Elizabeth River Tunnel Commission is to pay to the City of Portsmouth the sum o~ O~e
<br />Hundred Dollars per month, payable monthly for the joint use of bus' stop on Washington St. and for the exclusive
<br />use of bus stop on Court St. at King St.
