<br />Minutes of regular meeting of June 23rd, 1953 were read and approved.

<br />The following Notice of Zoning Changes was read:

<br />the following matters were considered and subsequent recommendations made for your approval.

<br />1. City of Bortsmouth to rezone the northeast corner of Sixth Avenue and
<br /> Queen St., beginning 0 feet from Sixth Avenue fronting 30 feet on the
<br /> north side of Queen St., by 81 feet deep, from Two Family, Class C
<br /> to Commercial Class G to be approved.
<br />2. L A Owens, to rezone the northwest corner of Sixth Avenue and Queen St.,
<br /> beginning 0 feet west from Sixth Ave., fronting 30 feet on the north
<br /> side of Queen St,, by 68 feet deep, from Two Family Class C to Co~mmercial
<br /> Class G be approved.
<br />3. The Commission recomme~dskthe approval of the Norfolk County Subdivision

<br /> "The regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission was held in the Council
<br />Chamber on Thursday, June 4, 1953. The following ma~tsrs were considered and the subsequent recommendations res-
<br />pectfully submitted for your approval.
<br /> 1. Paul 0. Perry ~o rezone lots 11-13-15-17 block H, beginning L29.6 feet south
<br /> from Race St., fronting 100 feet on east side of Parker Ave., by 100 feet
<br /> deep from Single Family Class B to TWo Family Class C, be.denied.
<br /> 2. James F. Sebolt to rezone a plot of land beginning 30 feet west from Third
<br /> Street, fronting 55 feet on north side of Lincoln St by 150 feet deep from
<br /> ~ultiple Family, Class D to Commercial Class F, be denied.
<br /> 3. George T. Magee to rezone the northwest corner of Gosport Road and Nashville
<br /> Avenue, beginning 0 feet wes~ from Nashville Avenue, fronting 53 feet on the
<br /> north side of Gosport Road by 100 feet deep from Commercial, Class F to Commer-
<br /> cial Class H,be approved.
<br /> 4. Joseph Fox to rezone 1000 Green St., beginning 0 feet south from Bart St.,
<br /> frqnting 31 feet on the west side of Green St., by 73 feet deep from ~ltipte

<br /> 5. Henry S. Inge to abandon a 16 foot alley between King St. and County St., be-
<br /> gi~king 180 feet east from Fourth Ave., then west 87 feet. Ilar. Inge agrees ~o
<br /> deed to the City a 10 foot strip on the south'side of his property abutting
<br /> County St. The Commission recommends the abandoning of the alley described."

<br /> Motion of ~r. Grimes to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission on the ap-
<br />plication of George T. Magee was adopted.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Wilson to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commassion on the
<br />application of the City of Portsmouth and L. A. Owens, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Lawrence to refer back To the Planning Commission the application of Paul O.
<br />Parry to rezone certain lots on Parker Avenue.
<br />
<br /> ~ Motinn of Mr. Stur~evan~ to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission on all
<br />other applications and the approval of the Norfolk County Sub-division Ordinance, was~gDted.
<br />
<br />The following letter from Portsmouth FireFighters Local 539 was read:
<br />
<br /> "Two special meetings of Local 539 I A P F were held the 22 and 23 of June~ 1953, and it
<br />was a unanimous vote that this letter he sen~ to you requesting a meeting with the Council in regard to the working
<br />conditions in the Fire Department These conditions, we of Local 539 feel are unjust and unfair, We would like
<br />to mee~ with you and find out why they do exist and if possible a remedy sought. Thanking you for a meeting at
<br />your earliest convenience, we remain
