Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons,Bernard D. <br />Griffin, Sr., James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas <br />Berm III, Ronald W. Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />97,118 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p,m., Monday, <br />April 14, 1997, for the purpose of a public work session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />97-119 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Operating Budget <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to Suspend the rules of <br />order to allow Dr. Trumble the opportunity to make remarks and answer questions, <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the <br />following: <br /> <br /> (1) Personnel matters, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br /> (2) The condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or <br />the disposition of publicly h:eid property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br /> (3) Specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by'counsel, <br />as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the F,xecutive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned 9:32 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> Dr. James W.
