<br /> "The Compensation Board has before it estimate of expenses for the calendar year 1954 fr~ the
<br /> Clerks of the Courts of your City, Hustings and Circuit.
<br />In view:of the statutes, while the Compensation Board is charged with the du~y of fixing-sal-
<br />aries of employees in the Clerk's office and certamn expenses, the Board feels that it should
<br />obtain recommendation of your City Council before fixin~ these salaries and expenses for .serti-
<br />fication to the City Council and to the Clerk. If your City Council h~s passed on these matters,
<br />it will be appreciated if you will advise us the walaries 'and expenses Tixed for the calendar
<br />year 1954. In this connection, please read Acts 1952, page 742, chapter 459. It will be appre-
<br />ciated if you will let us hear from you as promptly as possible."

<br />$17,888.00 to construct sewers in the Riverside section of the City of Portsmouth to complete the sanitary

<br /> 4th - "I recommend that the sum of $36,500.00 be placed on its first reading to be transferred
<br />to the employee supplemental retirement fund."

<br /> 8th - "I submit the attached report on Audit of Civil and Police Cou~t and Juvenile and Domestic
<br />Relations Court of the City of Portsmouth for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 1952 and June 30th, 1953,- submit-
<br />ted by J. Gordon Bennett, Auditor of Public Accounts. (I would like to call your attention to the fol,~'o~ing items).
