'108 APril 21. 1997 At a Called Meeting of the City COuncil held On Monday, April 21, 1997, there were present: Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard Di Griffin, Sr., Cameron C, Pitts, James T. Martin, *P..Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Berm III, Ronald W, Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. 97-118 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford street, at 5:00 p.m, Monday, April 21, 1997, for the purpose Of a PUblic Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 97-119 - The following item was discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Operating Budget Motion bY Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to suspend the rules of order to allow Dr. Trumble to speak and answer questions, and was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr, Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go;into Executive Session pursuant to provisions.of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, orthe disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). (2) Personnel matters, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). (3) Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual or probable litigation. as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Benn. and seconded by Mr. Martin pursuantto Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by an unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjourned 7:40 p.m. APPROVED- Johnny M. Clemons Vice Mayor Sheila Powell Pittman. CMC/AAE City Clerk *Councilman P. Ward Robinett arrived at 5:20 p.m. Mayor James W. Holley III was absent.
