'108 <br /> <br />APril 21. 1997 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City COuncil held On Monday, April 21, 1997, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard Di Griffin, Sr., Cameron C, Pitts, James T. <br />Martin, *P..Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Berm III, Ronald W, Massie, City Manager, <br />G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />97-118 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford street, at 5:00 p.m, Monday, <br />April 21, 1997, for the purpose Of a PUblic Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />97-119 - The following item was discussed in the Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Operating Budget <br /> <br /> Motion bY Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to suspend the rules of <br />order to allow Dr. Trumble to speak and answer questions, and was adopted by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr, Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go;into Executive Session <br />pursuant to provisions.of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real <br />property for a public purpose, orthe disposition of publicly held property, as <br />permitted by Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br />(2) Personnel matters, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual or probable litigation. <br />as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Benn. and seconded by Mr. Martin pursuantto Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by an unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned 7:40 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED- <br /> <br />Johnny M. Clemons <br /> Vice Mayor <br /> <br />Sheila Powell Pittman. CMC/AAE <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br />*Councilman P. Ward Robinett arrived at 5:20 p.m. <br />Mayor James W.
