BE IT RESOLVED bythe Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey a parcei of land in <br />Portcentre Commerce Park, being Parcel 3A-1 as shown on that certain plat entitled: <br />"Minor Subdivision of Parcels 3A and 3B Portcentre Commerce Park (M. B. 16, P. <br />31 & 32) Portsmouth, Virginia", dated May 1, 1997, prepared by Rouse-Sidne <br />Associates, Ltd., Surveyors and Mapping Consultants. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is <br />authorized to execute such further documents as may be necessary to the <br />conveyance of the aforementioned property, and its subsequent development." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- NEW BUSINESS - <br /> <br />97- 160 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />97 - 161 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman Martin suggested that staff contact the bond attorney witt~ improved <br />financial status for rating review. <br /> <br />Councilman Berm reflected on the Airline Corridor meeting held at Woodrow Wilson <br />High School and stressed the importance of gaining the confidence of the area <br />residents. <br /> <br />Councilman Pitts reflected on the success of the Sister City visit to Portsmouth, <br />England by the Portsmouth, Virginia delegation. <br /> <br />97 - 162 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Helen Person, 1314 Green Street, spoke on the contaminated housing units found <br />in Washington Park. <br /> <br />2. J. Brewer Moore, 308 Bobby Jones Drive, spoke on the importance of the <br />libraries. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to suspend the rules of <br />order to allow for one additional speaker, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />3. Chvonne Richardson, 1447 Green Street, spoke on the unfair treatment of, and <br />lack of communication to, the relocated residents of Washington Park. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the <br />following: <br /> <br /> (1) The disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection <br />(A)(3). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Berm, and Seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1~ <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements bY the Virginia Freedom ,of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> <br />
