Clemons, *Bernard D. <br />Griffin, Sr., James T. Martin, *Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas <br />Berm Ill, Ronald W. Massie, City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />97-153 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 <br />p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 1997, for the purpose of a public work session. <br /> <br />in addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />97-154 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Joint Meeting with the School Board <br /> <br />The following members were present: <br /> <br />Byron KIoeppel, Chairman <br />Ray Smith, Sr., Vice Chairman <br />Rev. Chades Bowens II <br />James Bridgeford <br />Dr. Elizabeth Daniels <br />Lawrence I'Anson <br />Dr. David Joyner <br />Louise Walden <br /> <br />2. Communication Towers <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive Session <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br />(A)(3). <br /> <br />(1) The disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection <br /> <br /> (2) Consultation with legal counsel and briefings by staff members, <br />consultants or attorneys pertaining to actual or probable litigation, as permitted by <br />SubSection (A)(7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
