June 10.1'997 1 51 <br /> <br />Craney Island Study ComrniS~ion <br /> <br />John Hardy to be reappointed to fill a four year term ending June 30, 2001. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to close the <br />nominations, and there being no further nominations, the above nominations ere <br />adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />97 - 173 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />· Councilman Benn acknowledged three Change of Command ceremonies that he <br /> and Mayor Holley had attended, <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Clemons requested that an attack dog in the Ebony Heights <br />neighborhood not be returned to its owners and that it be destroyed under the law <br />applicable to "viciouS animals." <br /> <br />Councilman Martin requested management to look into drainage problems at <br />Victory Boulevard Baptist Church which may have been caused by Norfolk's <br />water line work. <br /> <br />97-174 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Helen Person, 1314 Green Street, spoke on lead in various Washington Park <br />apartments and requested lead testing of the attics. : <br /> <br />2. Karen Jordan, 107 EImhurst Court, provided information of the Friends of the <br />Juvenile Court. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr, Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to allow Rev. Griffin two <br />additional minutes to speak, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />3. Rev. James Griffin, 1528 Maple Avenue, requested funding for PCDG be ceased <br />immediately. <br /> <br />4. James Lassiter, 708 Powhatan Avenue, spoke on concerns for City Park Golf <br />Course and the prol~osed driving range. <br /> <br />5. J. Brewer Moore 308 Bobby Jones Drive, spoke on various concerns with City <br />government. <br /> <br />6. Richard Cleveland, 1731 Maple Avenue, spoke in opposition to funding of PCDG <br />and in favor of a recreation center for residents of Prentis Place. <br /> <br />7. Yvonne Cleveland, 1731 Maple Avenue, expressed various concerns with PCDG. <br /> <br />qn motion the meeting adjourned at 10:02 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> Dr. James W.
