July 22, 1997 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, July 22, 1997, there were <br />present: , r <br /> <br /> *Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. <br />Griffin, Sr., James T. Martin, P; Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, Ronald W. <br />Massie, City Manager, George M. Willson, Deputy City Attorney. <br /> <br /> 97-207 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 <br />p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 1997, for the purpose of a public work session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />97-208 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. Hampton Roads Partnership <br /> <br />2. Childrens' Museum of Virginia - Expansion <br /> <br /> 3. Grants Overview <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the <br />following: <br /> <br /> 1) Consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for public <br />purpose, as permitted under Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br /> 2) Discussion of prospective businesses or industries where no previous <br />announcement has been made of the business' or industry's interest in locating in <br />the City, as permitted under Subsection (A)(5). <br /> <br /> 3) Consideration of appOintments to committees, boards, and commissions, <br />as permitted under Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br />4) Discussion of a personnel matter, as permitted under Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Councit. <br /> <br /> <br />
