July 22, 1997 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, July 22, 1997, there were present: , r *Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James T. Martin, P; Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, Ronald W. Massie, City Manager, George M. Willson, Deputy City Attorney. 97-207 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 1997, for the purpose of a public work session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 97-208 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Hampton Roads Partnership 2. Childrens' Museum of Virginia - Expansion 3. Grants Overview Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: 1) Consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for public purpose, as permitted under Subsection (A)(3). 2) Discussion of prospective businesses or industries where no previous announcement has been made of the business' or industry's interest in locating in the City, as permitted under Subsection (A)(5). 3) Consideration of appOintments to committees, boards, and commissions, as permitted under Subsection (A)(1). 4) Discussion of a personnel matter, as permitted under Subsection (A)(1). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Councit.
