At a regular meeting of the City CoUncil, held on June tlth, 1957, there were present:

<br />The meeting was opened with prayer by Frank L. Kirby.
<br />
<br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
<br />
<br />The following reports~from the City Manager were read:
<br />
<br /> 57-g07 - "I am reporiing that bids were requested from several contracting firms
<br />for bids~for removing the debris at the Ferr~ Termi~zal.
<br /> Only~ tw~ bids were received by the DiTector~ofPubllc Works, one from'the
<br />McLean Construction Company whose principal office is in Baltimore, Md., and branch office is in Norfolk,Va., in
<br />the sum of $4, SlSQOO '~n~ one from Geo~ge T. ~cLea~ Cbmpany of Pdfts~bht~, Virgi~ia~~ in the sum of $5,100.00.
<br /> I concur in the recommendation of the Director of P~blic Works that the
<br />contract for the work be awarded to McLean Contracting Company in the sum of $4,816.00 which will ~rovide fbr the
<br />removal o~ the three transfer bridges, the large dolphin, fender structure and tops of deck timbers for hoisting
<br />platform, the material to be disposed of at the U.S. Engineers Dispbsal Grounds at Great Bridge, Va."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Kirby to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager and award the
<br /> contract to McLean Construction Company, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 57-208 - "I am reporting that i have received no further contracts for the purchase
<br /> or property needed for Off-Street Parking and recommend that a conference be held in the very near future' ~t
<br /> which time the Council will consider the question of entering into condemnation proceedings for those~properties
<br /> needed for which the Real Estate Brokers have bees unable to secure options."
<br />
<br />On motion filed.
<br />
<br /> 57-209 - "I submit the Budget Ordinance for the fiscal year beginning July 1~ 1957
<br />and ending JUne 30th, 1958, and recommend that it be placed on its first reading."
<br />
<br />Motion.of Mr. Baker to. suspend the rules to hear from W. Nash Stublen, was adopted.
<br />
<br />Mr. Stublen asked, for a breakdown on the proposed budge~.
<br />
<br />and by the following vote:
