<br /> By unanimous action the Planning Commission recoramends that this petition be denied.
<br />It is considered that this area is properly zoned for the time being; further, that changed conditions brought
<br />on by constrnction of a highway to the SeCOnd Elizabeth River Tunnel may call f~r comprehensive rezoning of
<br />this area, perhapsc~lf an industrial nature, or ~ossihly acquisition of the property ~oncerned.

<br /> 57-326 -. am reporting that I have had the report checked concerning the tickets given for vio-
<br />lation of the Left Turn OrdinanoeLand I find there were a total of 144 cases of which there were 107 fines paid
<br />and ll mittimii issued for fines amd costs and 26 cases dismissed.
<br /> I do no2 recommend refunding fines and costs that have been imposed by the Courts."

<br /> Motion of Mr~. Kirby to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager wa~ adopted
<br />and by the following vote:

<br /> 57-327 - "I am reporting that sixteen property owners have paid into the ~City Collector's Office
<br />fifty per cent of the cost of construction o£ sidewalks in front of their properties on High St. and that the
<br />Director of Public Works has been instructed to inform the contractor to, begin work immediately to construct
<br />the walks for which the fi£ty per cent of the cost has been paid by the abu}ting owners.
<br /> As .soon as it has been determined the number of owners who do not voluntarily payfor
<br />their 50% of the cost, an ordinance will be prepared and submitted to Council for your action to assess the abut~
<br />ting property owners with the amount due for the construction of the walks."
<br />
<br />Motion of Mr. Kirby that the report b~ received and filed~ was ~lopted.

<br /> 57-328 - "I recommend that curb parking be prohibited o~ the south side of High Street between
<br />Hali£axAve. amd the Hamilton Ave. ~y-pass (route 17)."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Baker to lay on the table until the next regular meeting, was adopted.

<br /> 5?-329 - "l am reporting 'that the building purchased by the City off Portsmouthat the intersec~
<br />ti6n 6f Race and Camden Sts. is in the process of being renovated and will he used on and after October 1, 1957 a~
<br />a general office for the. Recreation Bureau.
<br /> The Recreation Center located at Dale Field will replace the use of the Community Hall,
<br />overtop the Fire Station located on Des Moines Avenue. of
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Kirby that the ~repor~ be received and f~led, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 57-330 - "I recommend that the sum of SlO,O0O.00 be placed on first reading for the purpose
<br />de£raying costs in connection with the Annexation Case."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Weiseman to place an appropriation of S10,000.O0 for said purpose, on
<br />first reading, was adopted.
