10th_ 1~. <br /> <br />~r. A. E. Stephens spoke. <br /> <br /> Motion of ~ir. S~ith to refer to a conference to be held immediately after this meeting, <br />to hear from the City Attorney, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 59-75 - Request of M.L. MeCarty that a committee consisting of Grady M. Comer, J.R.Carr~ <br />and Mr. McCarty be given permisszon to appear before the Council regarding the Lincolnsville project was presented. <br /> <br />Mr. McCarty agreed to have this committee appear at the next meeting o£ the Council. <br /> <br />59-76 - The following letter from B.S. Trant, Acting Planning Director, was read: <br /> <br /> The Planning Commissinn recommends to the City Council that the parcel of land purchased <br />for the widening of County.. Street remaining a£ter the necessary ten foot strip needed for the street is removed, <br />be advertised for sale. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Weiseman that the City Manager be so directed, was adopted, without dis - <br /> <br />seniing yore. <br /> <br />59-77 - The following letter from Mr. A.E. Parker, City Collector, was read: <br /> <br /> "On April 1st, I will have completed forty three years of service with the City of <br />Portsmouth. Over 26 years of this time as City Collector, and having reached the age of voluntary retirement, it <br />is my intention to retire as of April l, 1959. This is apparently very short notice, but my in%entions were zo <br />present this letter to the Council on February 10, but az the request of the City Manager, it was deferred and <br />az the meeting of February 24, it was a~ain deferred az the request of the Council, so that the Council has .actu- <br />ally been on notice of my intentions since February 10." <br /> <br /> Motion of Ur. Bartlett that the Council accede to ~. Parker's request that he be per - <br />mitred to retire after forty-three years of service with the City and that the Council express to Mr. Parker ap - <br />preciation for his services, was adopted, without disse~ting vote. <br /> <br /> 59-Y8 - Motion of Mr. Weiseman that a resolution be prepared expressing the apprecia - <br />tion of the Council to Mr. Fred W. Beazley for F~ederick College, which is such an asset to the City bf Portsmout! <br />and that said resolution be presented to Mr. Beazley in open Council meeting at a time convenient to him, was <br />adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> <br />
