Attorney was read: <br /> <br /> Certamn amendmentsto the ordinance estmblishing the Department of Recreation arfd <br />Parks proposed by Councilman Wal. ker, have been studied at the dir-ectior~ of t-he Council. I find no legal signi- <br />ficance To these amendments and am attaching-a revised draft ,of the ordi. nance incorporating these amendments." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Walker that.the followi~4 amendments to the ordinance establishing <br />the Depmrtment of Recreation, ~laced on first reading on May 12~h,~ 1959, be incorporated in Section 2-85, was <br />adopted, without dissenting vote: <br /> <br />"shall be qualified voters of the City" and "or the board". <br /> <br />On motion ef Mr. Walker, the ordinance, as amended, was adopted, by the following <br /> <br />vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Baker, Bartlett, Breedlove, Seward, Smith, Walker, Weiseman <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />taken up and read: <br /> <br />59-149 - The following ordinance, placed on first reading on May 2Sth, 1959, was <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO A~END CHAPTER II, SECTION 26, AND CHAPTER III, SECTION <br />OF THE LICENSE TAX ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, ADOPTED FEHRUARY <br />15, 1955, AS A~ENDED, SO AS TOCLASSIFY UNATTENDED COIN-IN-SLOT WASHING <br />MACHINES AND DRYERS AS SLOT NACHINES AND PROVIDE A SPECIFIC LICENSE TAX <br />THEREON OF TEN DOLLARS PER M_~CEINE" <br /> <br />The p rivilege of the flow'.was granted any interested persons. <br /> <br />Mr. Jake Jacobson spoke regarding the penalty. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Weiser~an, t~e ordinance was adopted, and by the :following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Baker, B~rtlett, Breedlove, Seward, Smith, Walker, Weiseman <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 59=152 - Mr. Enos, of the .equalization Board, reported on the progress of the <br />work of the Board~ and requested an extensmon of time. <br /> <br /> The Mayor requested the City Manager to bring in a recommendation in regard to this, <br />at the nex~ regular Council meeting, on June 9th. : <br /> <br /> 59-153 - Mr. ~iseman annoUnced the death of Mr. E.
