offer for sale the property described, subject re terms to be specified by the City Council, was adopted, <br />without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 59-327 - The following, letter from the Garden Club of Cradock was read: <br /> <br /> "The Garden ciu~ of Cradock wishes to' express con~e~u over the parcel sale of <br /> certain buildings, erected on County granted land, to the City, in the recent annexation of Cradock. We feel <br /> that if was not the intention o f the County Board of Supervisors and other responsible leaders to include <br /> buildings oWned by organizations, in the sale. We refer to the Girl Scout Cabin (oWned by the Scouts), the <br /> Cradock Woman's Club building, the quonset hut, property of Cradock Baptist Church and the Boy Scout <br /> Also, we emphasize the dedication of certain parcelsof'land,' in Cradock, for re- <br /> creation and parks, which were also sold; George Washington Park, developed ~y the Garden Club of Cradock, <br /> under Mrs. O.J. Womble's leadership and the Little League Field adjacent to the James Hursr School. <br /> <br /> Our Club realizes the scope of the transactio n, but feels that these conditions, <br /> while small by comparison, are o~ great interest to Cradock people. In keeping with the civic aims of our <br /> organization, we respectfully ask for consideration, with the hope for a satisfactory adjustment. <br /> <br /> (Signed) Mrs. John T. Casteen, President.) <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Bartlett that the letter be acknowledged and referred to the City <br />Attorney for further study, was adopted, without dissenting yore: <br /> <br /> 59-328 - The following letter from Edward E. Willia~ms was read: <br /> <br /> "I would like permission o£ your body to address the Council on a subject of utmost <br />importance, to our citizens at your meeting of this date - Sunday Sale of beer. Thanking you in advance." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Walker, rules were suspended ~o hear from Mr. Williams, who spoke <br />asking the ~ouncil to adopt a resolution regarding the sale of beer on ~Sunday, in Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> On motion filed. <br /> <br />On metion adjourned. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
