431. <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Breedlove ~o extend the time of the meeting beyond eleven P.M. was <br /> <br /> 60-203 - Mr. Breedlove rose To a point of personal privilege to state that, notwith- <br />standing personal differences regarding political opinions, he wished To extend a hand of farewell to the Mayor <br />and Mr. Bartlett, as they retire from the City Council. <br /> <br /> 60-204 - Mr. Smith stated that he had been informed that the Portsmouth Western <br />Union office would be closed each evening after 7:30, in the future. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Smith ~hat the City Manager be authorized To protest to the Federal <br />Co~maunications tom_mission about the proposed change in the hours of the Portsmouth Western Union Office, if <br />investigation discloses the protest is necessary, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 60-205 - The following copy of letter addressed ~o Levin Davis, Sec., State Board of <br />Elections, was read: <br /> <br /> "Re: General Election Results - Portsmouth City Council. <br /> <br /> In accordance with Section 24-279 and 24-280 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, I am <br />inclosing herewith copy of the Abstract of Votes for members of the City Council of Portsmouth, Va., cast in <br />the Councilmanic Primary Election held on June 14, 1960. It will appear from the Abstract that Jack P.Barnes, <br />W.ToLeary, H. Earl Weiseman and R. Irvine Smith received the highes~ number ef votes cast in the said election <br />and are therefore elected ~o the C~ty Council for the City of Portsmouth. (Signed) John R.Porter, Jr., <br /> Clerk of the Cour~ of Hu~stings." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Breedlove that the communication be received and filed for informatio] <br />was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br />President. <br /> <br /> <br />
