October llth, 1960 <br /> <br />Vote being taken, Mr. <br /> <br /> F~r Mr. Gri£fin: <br /> For Mr. Gaskill: <br /> <br />Griffin was elected, the vote being] <br /> <br />Smith, Barnes, Breedlove, Leafy, Seward <br />Talker, Weiseman <br /> <br /> The Chair announced t~e vote and that'~M~. Grif£in h~d been elected a member of the Ports - <br />mouth School Board for a term expiring July 1st, ~962, <br /> ~ representing District <br /> <br /> 60- gl6.1 - Motion that the election of a Deputy City Clerk be ~tabled until the City Manager <br />has a recommendation, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS - <br /> <br />60-317.- The~followiug letter from the Portsmouth Junior Woman's Club was read: <br /> <br />"The Portsmouth Junior Woman's Club cordially invites the members of the City Council <br />to attend a program meeting on Monday, October 24th, 1960, at 8:00 P.M. at the <br />Woman's Club. Guest speakers for' the even£ng will be R. Winston Bain, Democratic <br />Chairman for Portsmouth and James Beatty, Republican Chairman for ~ortsmouth. They <br />will present talks on their respective parties, with a question and answer period to <br />follow. We look forward to having the members of the City Council in attendance. <br /> (Si~ned) Mrs. Mary Ann Templeton, Public Affairs, Chairman." <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Motion to acknowledge the invitation and that all who can attend be urged to do so, was <br /> <br /> 60-318 - Mr. Barnes announced that the City of Hampton is celebrating its 350th Anniversary <br />His motion that an appropria~ resolution be drawn and presented to the City of Hampton was adopted without dis - <br />senting vote. <br /> <br /> 60-S19 - Mr. Walker requested the City Manager to bring in a report on salary and wage ad- <br />j. ustments as they affect the budget. <br /> <br /> 60-320 - The Chair announced Woodrow Wilson Home-Coming onOctober 14th, 1960 and urged all <br />to support the activities. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> <br />
