<br />Motion of~Lr. B~eedlove-~o adoPt'the following resolution, was adopted,

<br /> "WHER~S, on March 31, .19Zi~, Portsmouth Transit Company was granted a
<br />permit to operate intracity passenger bus~s in the City of Portsmouth pursuant to
<br />Article II of Chapter 16'of the City Code; and '
<br /> WHEREAS, during recent'years, certain problems have arisen with
<br />respect to the services rendered by said company, its demands for fare increases,
<br />interpretation of applicable ordinanceS, and other matters too numerous to mention;
<br />'and
<br /> WHER~S, the City Code and the permit granted said company provide
<br />for revocation without cause upon the giving of six months notice to said company.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the permit granted Portsmouth Transit Company to operate
<br />intracity buges pursuant ~o Article II of Chapter 16 of the City Code, dated March
<br />S1, 1945, be a~d the same hereby is revoked from and after 2:00~A.M., Sunday, Septem-
<br />ber 17, 1961
