August 29th, 1961 <br /> <br />At a special meeting of the City Council, held on August 29th, 1961, there were <br /> <br />present: <br /> <br />R. Irvine Smith, C. S. Atkinson, Jack PBarnes, John L. Dillon, W.T. Leafy, <br /> iGeorge R. Walker, H E Weiseman: A.P. Johnson;Jr., City Manager, and <br /> J.S. Livesay, Jr., City Attorney. <br /> <br />The meeting was opened with prayer by Mr. Weiser0an. <br /> <br />The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "You are requested to attend a ~ecial meeting of the City Council, in the Conncil <br />Chamber, of the City of Portsmouth, at 7:30 P.M., on Tuesday, August 29th, 1961, to consider on second reading <br />the following ordinance passed on first reading an a meeting held on August 22nd, 1961: <br /> <br /> 'AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 26-32 OF THE CODE OF THE C]I~Y OF <br /> PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1951, PROVIDING FOR APPEAL TO THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> WHERE STREET OPENING PERMITS ARE REFUSED" <br /> <br /> By Order of the President." <br /> <br /> 61-243 - The following ordinances approved on first reading at last regular meet- <br />ina of Council, was taken up and read: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 26-32 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1951~ PROVIDING FOR APPEAL TO TIlE CITY COUNCIL <br />WHERE STREET OPENING PERMITS ARE REFUSED" <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Weiseman, said ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Smith, Atkinson, Barnes, Dillon, Leary, Walker, Weiseman <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President. <br /> <br /> <br />
