317 <br /> <br />At s regular meeting of the City Council, held on. Janaary 22nd, 1963, there were present: <br /> <br />R. Irvine Smith, C. S. Atkinson, Jack P. Barnes, John L. Dillon, George D. Eastes, <br />L. L, Knight, W. T. Leary, A.. P. Johnson, Jr., City Manager, and M. A. Korb, Acting <br />City Attorney. <br /> <br />The meeting was opened with prayer by Mr. Barnes. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regulsr meeting held on January 8th, 1963, were read and approved. <br /> <br />The following reports from the City Manager were read: <br /> <br /> 63-9,~ "I submit the attached Ordinance and recommend that it be placed on firsn reading. <br />This is an apprQpria'tion of $10,000.00 to pay the contractor for improvements to the Museum Building. <br /> The contractor has completed his work bun the Museum Board has not received the <br />funds from all Qf i~s pledges as some are not due until 1963. When the Board receives these funds they will <br />reimburse the City. This will be set up in our accounts receivable. <br /> <br /> The amount due the contractor is $8,255.10. Baker. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Dillon to place the following ordinance on firsz reading: <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, <br />BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 9-13.1, REQUIRING ALL'NEW OR ADDITIONAL <br />ELECTRIC WIRING INSTALLATIONS WITHIN THE FIRE DISTRICTS TO BE METAL RACEWAYS <br />OR OTHER ACCEPTABLE MEANS." <br /> <br /> Substitute motion of Mr. Leafy ro defer action on the ordinance until next meeting, after <br />a conference of the Council, wes adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
