May 14, 1963 <br /> <br />telephone pole at the intersection of Chautauqua Avenue and Bayview Boulevard, at least five days prior ro this <br />meeting: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT .RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth. ~irginia, that: <br />Graydon D. Meginley, R. A. Craig, Jr., James V. McGehee, Charles F. Harper, Jr., and W. Irvine Ball be appointed <br />viewers To view said street and repor~ to this Council in writing whether in their opinion, any, and if any, <br />what inconvenience would result from discontinuing the afDrementioned.portion of Bayview Boulevard." <br /> <br />dissenting vote: <br /> <br /> On motion of-Mr. Knight, the foil.owing ordinance was approved on first reading, without <br /> <br />:"AN ORDINANCE TOCLOSE THAT POR~TION OF. BAYVIEW BOULEVARD LYING TO <br /> THE EAST OF CHAUTAUQUA AVENUE." <br /> <br /> 63-119 - The following communication from the Greenbrier Civic Club was read: <br /> <br /> "It is with regret that we have ~o resort ~o this means, but the city electrician, Mr. <br />Trant, has nor taken any positive action in regards to our request. Therefore, we have no alternative but to <br />presen~ the problem ~o our city council. <br /> The streets in the Greenbrier section do nor have electric lights or have very poor <br />lightLng~. The.streets are: Warwick--no lights; Algonquin--very poor lighting; Llwelyn, Montgomery, and <br />Albemarle--no lights on one end. <br /> The civic league surveyed the area and presented the survey ro Mr. Trsnt, who either <br />misplaced or/dasrroyed the documented survey. Two more letters.and;many lnquiries-kave,been made To Mr. Tran~ <br />and as of this date no reply has been received." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Knight to refer To the City Manager for:reporT. <br /> <br /> The City Manager made a verbal report. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> <br />
