November 26, 1963 <br /> <br /> 63-276 - The following resolution was read, and on moEidn-of Mr. Eastes, was unanimously adopted: <br /> "WHEREAS,. the~Durden of the Presidency of the. United~ States has beck. suddenly_and unexpectedly <br />thrust upon Lyndon Baines Johnson; and <br /> WHEREAS, these are times of grea~ tension and. uncertainty~wh~ch place grea~ demands upon the <br />courage and ability of everyone, more especislly the President of the United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, the. ssidLyndon Baines JQh~son has called for the suppora of his feltow~citlzens in this <br />most difficult hour of his life. ~-. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Cit~ or, Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />support of the citizens of this City be expressed and conveyed to our new President,.Ly~don Baizes Johnson. <br /> BE IT.FURTHER RESOLVED tha~ these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of the Council and 5hat <br />a copy thereof be forwarded to President Lyndon Baines Johnson." <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
