<br />sewers in Ro~te~ 337 (Portsmouth BoulevardS)'. This is the part of t~e conzracr which we .reques~ted the ~taEe
<br />Highway Depar;~m~nt to delete from their co~tracz with Moore Brothers Company in connection with the improvements
<br />to Partsmouth Boulevard. The following bids were received: ~

<br /> A. G. Pinkston Company 287,095.30
<br /> Vice Construction Corporaslon 276,945.50
<br /> Carser Contracting' Company, Incorporated 302,542.00

<br /> By accepting the: low bid as advertised by th~ city, the~e is~a savi~g of $73,29~.O0 to the city.

<br />generall~ northeasterly direction from the east lin~ of Lee Averse to thai cityl's boat ramp located in Pinners
<br />Point. This"is for ~he roadway extending to the bo~z ramp.

<br /> 65=272 - '~fter careful study and c~nsidermtien of the use of voting machines for the City of
<br />Portsmouth, I wis~ to report and make the following recommendation.
<br /> Under the.terms ~of the bids received _~rom the Shoup Voting Machine Company and the Automatic
<br />Voti~ng Machine Company, the machines can be leased from the Shoup Company for-an annual-rental of $t00.00 per
<br />machine sad from the Automatic Voting Machine Company for $11~r?O per machise.
<br /> I Fecommend that the city lease the Shoup Voting Machine for a one year ~rial basis and that they
<br />be ased in all voting precincts. This will require the leasing of approximately fifty voting machines, the
<br />machines ~o be used in the three elections in 1964. At the_November election in 1964, the question should be puz
<br />~o the voters as ~o whether or not the city sbould purchase voting machines, with no decision to be made a~ this
<br />time as to the purchase of the machines."
