<br /> Associates, September, 1963", and unanimously adopted the attached resolution.

<br /> (2) Instruct the City Clerk to insert t'he attached advei~ti~emen~ in the newspaper on May 13 and
<br /> 19 so that City_ Council at its regular meeting on May 26 can conduct a public hearing for conside~ration and

<br /> docnment ~ad been designated "CP-1-64" end would be considered by the Por5smeuth C~y Plan~ing Commission on
<br /> Tuesday, May 5, 1964, at a regular monthly meeting as a matter for public heering; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Ci~ty Planning Commission did on May 5, 1964~ at 2~:30 p~m. conduc~ a public hearing
<br /> on said document 'CP-l-64' as an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for the City of~ Portszouth, the~e being a
<br /> quorum present; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Paragraph 15-964~6 of Cha/3ter 2E, of the Code of-Virginia specifies t~at 'As th~..work of
<br /> preparing the comprehensive plsn progresses, the local Commission may, fre~. time,to time,~ ~ecommehd, ~d the
<br /> governing body approve and adopt, par~s thereof;~ any such part shall co~eb one or-more major sections or

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ~ITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY .OF P~RTSMOUTH
<br /> THAT, the 'CP-1-6~ LAND USE AND'MAJOR STREETS" legend phrase LI~!TED AND LO~AL BESINESS.' ~
<br /> includes therein a carry-over assumption of 'RESIDENTIAL-HIGH DENSITY'; and~ is so col~struc~d t? shew th~ sam~

<br /> THAT, a parallel between this portion of the Comprehensive Plan legend and the zoning map legend
<br />for the zoning district titled 'R-60-~ OFFICES AND RESIDENTIAL' is intended and refiected in the-actions of the
<br />Planning Commission and the City Council as set forth earlier in the resol~/tion of April 21, 1964; and
<br /> THAT, 'SINGLE FAMILY' shown on said 'CP-1-64' shall be synonymous and interchangesble with the
<br /> 'CP-1-62' legend designation 'REs}DENTIAL-LOW DENSITY', 'MULTI-FAMILY' synonymous and interchangeable with
<br /> 'RESIDENTIAL-HIGH DENSITY', and 'CO~9~ERCIAL' with 'GENERAL AND INTENSIVE B~JSINESS'; and
<br /> THAT, since 'CP-1-62' makes no distinction with reference to z category such as 'SEMI-PUBLIC',
<br />an omission both recognized and intended by the City of Portsmouth in keeping with the general nature of a
<br />municipal comprehensive plan under laws of the State of Virginia, it is the' express intention.~of tko Ci'ty of
<br />Portsmouth that the ~erm 'SEMI-PUBLIC' used in 'CP-1-64' relative ro 'AREA NUMBER 6' and '7' shall~
<br />synonymous and interehengeable with 'RESIDENTIAL-HIGH DENSITY' and 'AREA NU~ABER 3' synonymous and inter-
<br />changeable with 'GENERAL AND INTENSIVE BUSINESS'; and

<br />COMPREHENSIblE ~PLAN FOR THE CITY OF ]~ORTS~IOU~H, VIRGINIA, otherwise ref~rred to ms ~the general plan for the

<br /> THAT, a copy of this resolution be spread upon.i the minutes of ~his regular Planning Commission

<br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission and that the
<br />public hearing.for-consideratiou of amendmen~ CP-1-64 be ~dv~mtised for regula~ meeting on May 26, 1964, was
<br />adopted, without dissenting vote.

<br /> 64-108 - Motion of Mr. Knight to go.into the election of a member ro the Portsmouth Naval
<br />Museum Board was adopted, without dissenting vo~e.

<br /> Mr. Barnes nominated J. S. L~a~=sny, Jr., ~o succeed himself ~s a member of the Museum Board, for
<br />period of three years beginning May 1, 1964.
