July 1st, 1964 A~ a called meeting of.the City Council, held~on July 1st, 1964, there were present: R. Irvine Smith, C. S. Atkinson, Jack P. Barnes, John L. Dillon, George D. Eastes, L. L. Knight, Leafy, A. P.~Johnson, Jr.,.City Manager, and M. A. Korb, Jr.,.City Attorney. The meeting was opened with prayer.by Mr..Smith. The following oaths of office were presented by the Clerk: Councilmen Jack P. Barnes, L. L. Knight, W. Y. Leary and E. Irvine Smith The following call for the meeting was.read: "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council, Wednesday, July 1st, 1964, for the purpose of re-organiza$~on '~ adopted. of two years. in the Council Chamber, at 7:00 P.M., on Motion of Mr. Mr. Dillon nominated Mr. On motion of Mr. Knight, Knight ~o go into the election of a temporary chairman was adopted. Leary. nominations were closed. Vote being taken Mr. Leafy was elected ~emporary chairman. 64-152 - Motion of Mr~ Knight to go into the election of the'President of the-City Council was Mr. Dillon neminated R. On motion of Mr. Knight, Irvine Smith. nominations were closed. Vote being taken, Mr. Smith was unanimously elected President of the City Council for a period Motion of Mr. Dillon To go into the election of a Vice-President of the City Council was adopted. Mr. Knight nominated Jack P. Barnes. On motion of Mr. Leafy, nominations were closed. Vote being taken, Mr. Barnes was unanimously elected Vice-Presid~ of period of two years. 64-153 - On motion of Mr. Barnes the rules for government of the City Council, which were presented by the City Clerk, were adopted.
