Knight. <br />The meeting was opened with prayer by Mr. Smith. <br /> <br />The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />at <br /> <br /> "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council, in the Council Chamber <br />11:30 a.m., on Thursday, March 17th, to consider the following ordinances on first reading: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROVE THE SALE OF ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED <br />THOUSAND DOLLARS OF SA2~ITATION BONDS PROVIDED IN THE ORDINANCE, <br />ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRUARY 8, 1966, &ND FIXING THE <br />RATE OF INTEREST FOR SAID BONDS" <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROVE THE SALE OF ONE MILLION DOLLARS OF <br />WATER BONDS PROVIDED IN THE ORDINANCE ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />ON FEBRUARY 8, 1966, AND FIXING THE RATE OF INTEREST FOR SAID BONDS~' <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANEE TO APPROVE TttE SALE OF SIX MILLION DOLLARS OF <br />GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS PROVIDED IN THE ORDINANCE ADOPTED BY THE <br />CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRUARY 8, 1966, AND FIXING THE RATE OF INTER~ST <br />FOR SAID BONDS" <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING CONDEMMATION TO ACQUIRE LAND FOR NEW <br />PUBLIC WORKS FEDERAL OFFICE BUILDING" <br /> <br />66-67 - The following letter from the City Manager was ~ead: <br /> <br /> "Bids were opened at 1I:00 a.m. today for the sale of $6,000,000 of <br />General Obligation Bonds, $1,S00,000 of Sanitation Bonds, and $1,000,000 of ~ater Bonds. Bids were <br />received as follows: <br /> <br />Blyth & Co., Inc. <br />Bankers Trust Co. <br />The Chase Manhattan Bank, N. A. <br />Northern Trust Co. <br />Morgan Cuaranty Trust Co. <br />Halsey Stuart & Co. <br />First of Michigan Corp. <br /> <br />3.72686 <br />3.7292 <br />3.7g~7 <br />3.7541 <br />5.7634 <br />3.7636 <br />3.8065 <br /> <br /> Blyth ~ Co., Inc. being ~he low bidder, I recommend that the bonds be <br />awarded to this concern at the interest rate prescribed by the attached proposal and recommend that <br />the attached ordinance be placed on first reading." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Eastes, the following ordinance was approved on first <br />reading, without dissenting vote: ~ <br /> <br />"~g ORDINANCE TO APPROVE THE SALE OF ONE MILLION FIVE }~NDRED <br />THOUSAND DOLLARS OF SANITATION BONDS PROVIDED IN THE ORDINANCE <br />ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRUARY 8, 1966, AND FIXING THE <br />RATE OF INTEREST FOR SAID BONDS" <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson, the following ordinance was approved on first <br />reading, without dissenting vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROVE THE SALE OF ONE bIILLION DOLLARS OF WATER <br />BONDS PROVIDED IN THE ORDINANCE ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON <br />FEBRUARY 8, 1966, AND FIXING TIlE RATE OF INTEREST FOR SAID BONDS" <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes, the following ordinance was approved on first <br />reading, without dissenting vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROVE TIlE SALE OF SIX MILLION DOLLARS OF <br />GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS PROVIDED tN THE ORDINANCE ADOPTED BY THE <br />CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRtlRRY 8, 1966, ;%ND FIXING THE RATE OF IS~EREST <br />FOR SAID BONDS" <br /> <br /> 66-68 - The following letter from the City Manager was read: <br /> <br /> "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed on <br />first reading. <br /> This ordinance authorizes the condemnation of property necessary for <br />public buildings. The land is needed for construction of a new city garage and public works building; <br />the former building having been taken by the Weaver Urban Renewal Project." <br /> <br /> On motion of ~ir.
