June 28th, 1966 <br /> <br /> 66-162 - "I submit the attached Declaration oi Policy of the City of Portsmouth regarding <br />community improvements and also a request for authorization to submit the Workable Program to the Department of <br />Housing and Urban Development. This is an annual requirement of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.. <br />along with the attached report concerning the various code enforcements such as building, minimum housing, fire, <br />etc. These mus~ be submitted and approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Developmen~ in order that the <br />City may be eligible to participate in the Urban Renewal Program." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Johnson to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted, <br />without dissenting yore. <br /> <br /> 66-163 - "I submit the attached ~ep~.r~ from the Deparzment of Welfare and Institutions <br />with reference to the City's request that they investigame the recent escape from the City Jail. I am also <br />submitting herewith a letter from the City Sergeant requesting authorization ro employ additional deputies. <br /> I recommend that the City Council concur in his request, but that they be em- <br />ployed on a temporary basis." <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Leafy ~o concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted, without <br /> <br />dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 66-164 - "At the last meeting of the City Council, letters from the Collinswood Civic <br />League and the Collinswood Garden Club were referred to me for reporT. Representatives of the Health Department <br />and Public Works Depar~men~ met on the site on June 17th with Mr. Dixon of Collinswood Corporation. <br /> It has been reported to me by these Two departments that considerable work has <br />been done and is continuing ro be done to remove the weeds and underbrush. I am~also advised thit the Collins- <br />wood Corporation is sloping the banks of the lake and that will be covered with Topsoil and seeded with grass <br />seed. The open ditches are To be piped or filled where practicable. It is further reported that the Collins- <br />wood Corporation has had the Terminix Corporation do an entire exterminating job for rate and other pests on <br />their property. The ~ealth Department is proceeding with the enforcemen~ of the weed ordinance against other <br />property owners in the area." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. ~Knight that the report from the City Manager, along with reports from the <br />Public Works and Health Departments, be received as ihformation and that the ~wo organizations be appropriately <br />i~formed, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 66-165 - "I-submit the attached adjusted revenue and expenditure estimates of the 1965-66 <br />budge~, and recommend that I be authorized to make these changes.
