August 9, 1966 <br /> <br /> 9. That, in order to implement and facilitate the effectuation of the <br />Redevelopment Plan hereby approved, it is found and determined that certain official action <br />must be taken by this Body with reference, among other things, to changes in zoning, the vacating <br />and removal of streets, all~y, and other public ways, the establishment of new streets patterns~ <br />the location and relocation of sewer and water mains and.other public facilities, and other public <br />action, and, accordingly, this Body hereby (a) pledges its cooperation in helping to carry out the <br />Redevelopment Plan; (b) requests the various officials, departments, boards, and agencies of the <br />Locality having administrative responsibilities in the premises likewise to cooperate to such end <br />and to exercise their respective functions and powers in: a manner consistent with the Redevelopment <br />Plan; and (c) stands ready.to consider and take appropriate action upon proposals and:.~measures <br />designed to effectuate the Redevelopment Plan. <br /> <br /> 10. That additional financial assistance under the provisions of Title I of <br />the Ho~sing Act of 1949~ as amended, is necessary to enable the land in the Project area to be <br />renewed in accordance with the Redevelopment Plan for the Project area:~and, accordingly, the filing <br />by the Local Public Agency of an application or applications for such financial assistance under <br />Title I is hereby approved." <br /> <br /> 66-211 "l submit the attached agreement and recommend that the proper City <br />Officials be authorized to sign. <br /> This is a cooperation agreementbet~een the City of Portsmouth and <br />the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority and pertains to Project Va. R-39 (Northside No. 1)." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was <br />adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />-UNFINISHED BUSINESS- <br /> <br /> 66-188 The following ordinance, app~oYed on first reading at last meeting, was <br />taken up and read: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, BY ADDING <br />THERETO A NEW SECTION NtB{BERED 29-!31.~ ^~l~n~T?*wn THE USE OF APPROVED <br /> PLASTIC TUBING IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF WATER SERVICE LINES" <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Johnson, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Smith. L. Gamble to fill the vacancy created by the resignation <br />of Admiral Howard. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Barnes, nominations were closed. <br /> <br /> <br />
