V~ Schocklin, on <br />the Minimtm Housing Board, and assistan~ Fire Chief George T..~Wyatt, as an ex-officio member of the Board. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Pastes, nominations were closed. <br /> <br /> Vote beiMg taken, Mr. Stublen was unanimously elected a member of the Minimum Housing Board, <br />for the term specified, and ~ssistant Fire Chief %{yatt an ex-officio%of the Board. <br /> <br /> 66- 3~ - Mr. King nominated Jack P. Barnes for membership on.the Area-wide Cooperation Committee, <br />to.fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Honorable Nilliam B~ Spong. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Leafy, nominations were closed. <br /> <br /> Vo~e being taken, Mr. Barnes was unanimouslyelected a member of the Committee. <br /> <br /> 66- 312 - T~e following letter from the City Manager was read: <br /> "The Portsmouth Bond Commission has approved the issuance of the necessary bonds to finance <br />the Civic Center Project. <br /> I, therefore, recommend that the contract for construction of this project be awarded to <br />the firm of Doyle ~ Russell of Norfolk, low bidder, in the amount of..$5,786,$37." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Johnson to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager to award the contract for <br />the ~ivic 6enter Project to Doyle and Russell, was adopted, without d{~$enting vote. <br /> <br />-~EW BUSINESS- <br /> <br /> .67-11 - The~foll~wing letter from Bi~J Gamble was read: <br /> "Pe~ling that I can be of greate~ service to the City-of Portsmouth~in another capacity~ <br />I hereby ~ender my resignation from the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission, as of the last <br />.scheduled meeting in November, 1966. <br /> I wish to s~ate here that I greatl~ enjoyedfmy affiliation with the Commission during the <br />period t had the privilege of serving with you." <br /> <br /> ~lotion of Mr. Pastes that the reszgnation be accept~e~ with ~egrets and that the question ~f filling~ <br />the vacancy be referred to a conference, was~adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />On motien adjourned. <br /> <br />Approved <br /> <br />PreSident <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
