Borill, Sr., 4411 Clifford Street, was read: <br /> "It is respectively requested that the enclosed Circular be read at the March 28, 1967, <br /> council meeting. I whole-heartedly agree m%d concur With the contents of said circular. I ~m not <br />at p~sent a member of the West Side Civic League~ but I am a tax-payer and a property owner living on <br /> Clifford Street which is badly in need of curbs~ and gutters, and drainage. <br /> On motion of Mr. Knloat, received as information and referred to a conference of Co~ncil on <br /> curbs~ gutters~ and drainage along with other requests. <br /> <br /> 67-84 - The following petition si,pfned by Purvis H. Richardson, 2607 Evergreen Place, and numerous <br /> others, was presented: <br /> " t~ Harrison Ward section and <br /> "We the undersi.q~.ed citizens of Portsmouth and residents of <br /> members of the t~arrlsen ..~-- Civic League are strongly opposed to any change in the present <br /> allocation of oublic funds which would reduce ~he annual amount of such funds used for the extension <br /> of curbs and g~tters to those sections of the City which have for so long been deprived of such <br /> lmr~ovement. <br /> On mo_~on referred to conference of Council on street improvements, along with other recUests. <br /> 67-85 - The following petition signed by Mr. and Mrs, R. C. Jackson, 1252 Glasgow Street, and <br /> ~ ~ ~resented: <br /> ouhe_s, was <br /> "We would like definite information in regards to what your plans are concerning the home <br /> owner and taxpayers in this area. <br /> We have been waiting for more than three (3) years~ and to date we know as much as we did three <br /> years ago. The neighborhood has depreciated to the extent of vandalism. <br /> ~{e would appreicate a meeting with ~ Representative from your office, if he has something <br /> constructiv__.__.__~e, and definite to tell us." <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes, received as information and referred to the City Manager for proper handling. <br /> 67-86 - Motion of Mr. K~ight to go into the election of a member to the Portsmout%Port and <br /> Industrial Co~mi~sion to fill the unexpireg term of B. L. G~ble, resiga~d was adopted, <br /> <br />Mr. Knight nominated J. P. Stephenson, 500 East Road. <br />On motion of Mr. Barnes, nominations were closed, <br /> <br /> Vote being taken, Mr. Stephenson was unanimously elected to the Portsmouth Port and Industrial <br />Commission for a term exp~ing December SI~ 1968. <br /> <br /> 67-87 - Motion of Mr. Barnes that the matter of filling the vacancy on the Port~moutb Bond <br />Commission, created by the election of Mr, Stephenson to the Port Commission, be referred to a <br />conference, was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned, <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
